Marriage Certificate changes to the content and format are being proposed in England and Wales. The House of Commons Briefing paper deals with the proposed changes which include both parents details for each party being entered onto the Marriage certificate and not just the Father’s, and a digital the marriage certificate being available in digital format.

‘Subject to the approval of draft regulations which have been laid before Parliament, the Government intends that a new system of marriage registration will be implemented on 4 May 2021 and that the particulars to be registered for a marriage will be updated’.
