A consultation is to be launched for the increase of Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) payable by foreign buyers.

Under current rules, the rates of SDLT are equal for those purchasing UK property regardless of their nationality and contribution towards other taxes in the country.

In an aim to create greater equality and reduce inflating house prices caused by overseas investment, the Government will consider levying up to an additional 3% for foreign buyers.
